Rose Lafosse (Meryl Streep) is a big executive manager. She lives in San Francisco with her old mother (Angela Lansbury). Her mother feels lonely and she loves to take long walks round the bay feeding birds. The day of the storm is no different. Mrs. Lafosse dies.

Keira Patterson (Lisa Kudrow) is a TV hoster. She lives in Santa Barbara with her husband, Stefen (Russell Crowe) and their son, Joel (Paul Dano). Stefen and Joel don’t get on together so well so Keira convinces them to take a trip to the beach. They would never come back home.

A month after the disaster those three women meet each other on a memorial service to the victims. They start to tell their stories. Three different women, three different ages, three different lifes. The same pain.

What the Press would say:

Marc Foster’s newest film “Through the Monsoon” is the hit of the season. It tells the story of three women who are somehow affected by a tidal wave. The stories take part on California (Crescent City, San Francisco & Santa Barbara). Amy Adams, Lisa Kudrow and Meryl Streep are the main characters. Amy Adams is a just married woman that loses her husband during the storm. Adams gives a believable performance, she carries on with her sweetness as she has always done. Kudrow provides another excellent performance as the tv host that loses everything. Kudrow probes that she is one of the most versatyle actress out there. At least but certainly not last, Streep is as always perfect. She portrait a single executive woman who have to take care of her mother. When she loses her, she loses her faith. The cast completes with Angela Lansbury (Streep’s old mother), Hugh Dancy (Adam’s husband), Russell Crowe (Kudrow’s husband) and Paul Dano (Kudrow’s son). Without a doubt the best performance is done by Lansbury who can easily take the award home. There’s a scene with Lansbury feeding pidgeons in the bay. She doesn’t say a word, is not needed.
